Prospera, the exiled duchess of Milan, has been living on a deserted island with her daughter Miranda and the half-human Caliban. Possessing magical abilities to control the many spirits of the island, including Ariel, Prospera causes a ship carrying the men who exiled her, including her own brother Antonio, the King of Naples Alonso, and his sister Sebastian, to wreck on the shores of her island. Alonso’s son Ferdinand finds himself falling in love with Miranda; Antonio and Sebastian plot to murder Alonso; and Caliban, with the help of two fools Trinculo and Stephano attempt to take over the island. With the spirits, Prospera wrestles within herself to decide if she will use her magical powers to exact revenge on her enemies or begin a new life back in Milan.

Description: Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton’s challenge is twofold – not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Chicago: High School Edition*
Description: Stop the presses! The New Generations Academy is proud to produce the brand new musical, Chicago: High School Edition! As the longest running American musical in Broadway history, Chicago has certainly made its mark with a stunning score by Kander and Ebb and iconic choreography by Bob Fosse.
Set in the roaring 1920’s, Chicago centers on Roxie Hart, a woman longing for the Vaudeville stage who finds herself in Cook County Jail after murdering a faithless lover. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines with the help of razzle-dazzling lawyer Billy Flynn – ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. Using the language of Vaudeville, Chicago is a satirical commentary of the court system, American journalism, and our celebrity-obsessed culture.
All registered students will audition in early July and receive a role. Audition information will be emailed upon registration. Rehearsals will culminate with a full production of Chicago: High School Edition. *Please note that Chicago has been adapted for High Schools and Camp Programs by Samuel French in partnership with iTheatrics. Much of the adult language and content has been removed while keeping the plot and integrity of the show fully intact. Please note that this production is best suited for performers 14+ due to the mature subject matter.
